My name is Lea Frank and I have been a counselor since 1991. I use a wide variety of therapy techiniques in my practice. However, I have recently completed the intensive training necessary to become an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Clinician. EMDR is a therapy technique that has been proven to help many who have struggle with traumatic experiences.

I am constantly reminded of the courage it takes someone to make the decision to meet with a counselor; to share their most personal, and sometimes hidden, stories and experiences. I am humbled by the trust needed for the counseling relationship to work.

I recognize that I will never know my clients as well as they know themselves, and for this reason, I never pretend to have their answers. I see my role as providing a safe place for people to hear themselves think out loud. By doing this, we are able to slow down the noise and choas that life brings to all of us. Doing more of what’s working and less of what’s not is the goal.

Some things you may come to realize about my style of counseling:

You can expect to lead us on this journey…

And that I may gently redirect and challenge you if you are looping through unhealthy ‘tapes’ and faulty thinking patterns.

You can expect that the road to change will sometimes become rocky and uncomfortable…

And that I will be providing new skills sets and tools for you to utilize along the way.

You can expect that the pain that you’ve attempted to avoid may surface and potentially become palpable…

And you can expect me to be in awe of your strength and tenacity.

You can expect that if you find strength in a higher power and prayer that we will bring that piece into our sessions…

And you can be assured that this decision will always be yours – not mine.

My hope is that through your hard work you will find new levels of peace and contentment in this journey called life.

Now, for the facts:

I am native of Tiffin.  I graduated from Miami University with a BA in Interior Design and minors in both Psychology and Dance.  I chose to go back to get my MA in Counseling from Heidelberg University when I had 3 children under 3!  I have been independently licensed in Ohio since 1995 (LPCC-S) and I have the credentials to supervise counselors who are working toward their clinical endorsement.

I was a counselor at Heidelberg University for 22 years.  While there, I taught in the graduate program, as well as, in the undergraduate Honors Program. I have also worked at Tiffin University in their counseling department.  I have experience in private practice having been employed at both New Transitions in Tiffin and Cornerstone in Bellevue.

I work with individuals, families, and couples (most often over the age of 17) who are struggling with anxiety, trauma, bereavement, mood disorders (including depression) and stress management.

I am excited to announce that I have completed all necessary training for EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) a therapy approach that has proven to work well with those who have experienced trauma.
